Critical thinking is an essential skill that needs to be developed in the learning process to help students objectively evaluate information and make logical decisions. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of two learning models, Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL), in enhancing critical thinking skills among junior high school students. A literature review approach was used to collect and analyze data from six relevant scholarly articles. The analysis results indicate that both PBL and IBL are significantly more effective than conventional teacher-centered teaching methods. These models encourage students to be more actively involved in the learning process, thereby substantially enhancing their critical thinking abilities. This finding underscores the importance of implementing PBL and IBL in the context of 21st-century education, where critical thinking is a key competency.
